The video below is an existing work by Marcus Dove, documenting his pyrotechnic art-making process, filmed and produced by Everywhere Productions. For the next stage of the project, we plan to focus more closely on the exothermic reactions, using slow-motion capture to highlight the physical intensity and beauty of the process.
Please note that the current video contains music for cinematic effect; however, the final immersive soundscape will be composed entirely from pyrotechnic field recordings, mixed spatially to create a raw, sensory audio environment without traditional music.
The following link and image leads to a behind-the-scenes video that includes the sound of a smoke grenade, the type of sound we intend to amplify and develop as one of the core elements of the immersive soundscape. We encourage you to focus on the audio, as it represents the raw material that will inform the sensory depth of the final experience: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D_dct2Znnu0dFnoaFRGb1uOpGR5q9emX/view?usp=drive_link
Below is an image of Aaron from Clarence Street Studios working on spatial audio concepts for the project. The following Google Drive link provides proof of his high-level spatial sound production, previously commissioned by BOSE and John Lewis (as referenced in the Creative Team section): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q6WzLwdsrX6mnIrXjiZR624jmfD-mJYy/view?usp=drive_link
Below are digital renders illustrating our envisioned exhibition space, including moments where close-up pyrotechnic visuals are projected (at times seamlessly across multiple walls) to fully immerse the audience in the sensory experience.
To enhance the immersive experience, we are also exploring the addition of scent within the exhibition space, specifically the evocative smells of fireworks, bonfires, and burning materials. Whether delivered through custom fragrances or scent diffusers, this sensory layer is still in development, but will be carefully considered to complement the visual and sonic environment.
Thank you for reviewing this supporting document,
